    In this article, Cramer minimizes the importance of the "option backdating" investigations.

    He exclaims: "
    In the end, I suspect the Justice Department will drop its inquiries and the SEC will consider all of these issues as civil, and that these will not have much impact at all on earnings per share. I say that because there are simply too many of these investigations to matter at this point."

    Furthermore, he believes the stocks that have sold off due to option backdating investigations, like MNST, should be bought on dips.

    Although, he thinks the deal is a net positive, he is not convinced it is time to buy CIEN, TLAB, CNXT, JDSU, NT, yet.

    He sums it up: "
    I think this deal is positive for sure, but the consolidation remains problematic at best and the combo doesn't make me want to put any more into this sector -- yet."

    NOTE: Here is a good rebuttal to Cramer's dismissive attitude towards option backdating, with regards to MNST.
